Bismarck, ND Level 1 & 2 (In-House)
Myofascial Decompression (MFD) Techniques: Increased efficiency of motion through fascial mobility and neuromuscular re-education
Date: Saturday, April 12 & Sunday, April 13, 2025
Time: 8am-4:30pm
Location: CC’s Physical Therapy, 207 W. Front Ave, Bismarck, ND 58504
Level One: Step into the world of Myofascial Decompression (MFD) Techniques in our signature "What the Cup?" course. This dynamic workshop explores skin/fascia properties, trigger points, and the strategic use of negative pressure tools. Unleash the power of fascial mobility and neuromuscular re-education, optimizing motion efficiency.
Level Two: Build on your Level 1 foundation and achieve MFD mastery with our Level 2 course. Designed as a seamless progression, this advanced program deepens your understanding of the precision MFD pump, targeting specific tissue layers with expertise. Uncover advanced applications in lymphatic flow, muscle inhibition, and kinesthetic awareness, blending MFD techniques with neuromuscular re-education principles. Navigate through the intricacies of treating specific sport populations and applying intermediate re-education in our Level 2 course.
Course tuition includes a 15-piece pneumatic cup set to take with you as well as the new MFD Precision Pump (distributed on the day of the course).
Who can take the course: PT, ATC, LMT, PTA, OT, MD, DO, LAc, and other health care professionals.
Pre-Requisites: Proof of licensure or certification. We recommend completing a basic course in manual therapy and an understanding of end feel and tissue texture changes.
Continuing Education Approvals (8 contact hours for each course):
California Physical Therapy Board
Board of Certification (BOC) Category A
National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB)
Course Objectives, Level One:
- Understand the properties skin/fascia and its interface with the musculoskeletal and neurologic systems.
- Understand histological subunits of myofascial layers, trigger points, common referred pain patterns, fascial lines, and Janda’s concepts.
- Understand precautions and contraindications when using negative pressure tools; documentation and billing
- Demonstrate appropriate and effective handling when using negative pressure with movment in lab settings with competency
Course Objectives, Level Two:
- Understand how to operate the precision MFD pump at specific mmHg to target specific tissue layers, and visualize the imaging research that matches these recomendations.
- Understand how to utilize MFD to assist with lymphatic flow and dysfunction.
- Understand the basic principles of muscle inhibition, and how to utilize MFD for inhibitory influence to promote improvements in coordination and movement efficiency.
- Understand the basic principles of kinesthetic awareness and proprioception and how MFD is used with kinesthetic awareness cueing to improve movement efficiency.
- Be able to combine MFD techniques (extensibility, inhibition, and kinesthetic awareness) with neuromuscular re-education principles to build a program for specific sports populations.
- Demonstrate in lab manual applications of MFD to treat specific sport populations, including cyclists, runners, swimmers, golfers, contact sport athletes & throwing athletes.
- Administer specific intermediate neuromuscular re-education principles after MFD to restore optimal function, as demonstrated in the lab.
*An online didactic review portion will be required before attending the course. The time requirement for the self-paced session is approximately 2 hours.
